Vision

Discover the sacred Drakensberg land and long-term vision for a healing centre rooted in ancestral wisdom and community restoration.

Drakensberg Giants Castle

Vision (Sacred Land – Drakensberg Giants Castle)

The vision of this work extends far beyond individual healing. Rooted in the African principle of Ubuntu — “I am because we are” — it recognises that true healing happens in relationship: with ancestors, with community, with the land, and with the living world. Within this understanding, personal wellbeing cannot be separated from collective health, cultural continuity, or environmental care. This work seeks to restore ancestral ways of living that honour balance, responsibility, and belonging. Through collective prayer, ceremony, and shared practice, it supports healing not only for individuals, but for families, communities, and future generations. It offers a space where ancestral knowledge is remembered, practised, and passed on with care, integrity, and humility.

The Land and Its Significance

The current King of Hlatikulu has honoured us with land in one of the most spiritually significant regions of South Africa: the Drakensberg Mountains, near Giants Castle, an area renowned for its San rock art caves. This land holds deep spiritual and historical meaning for the Zulu people and for indigenous communities more broadly.

The land itself is understood as a living participant in the healing process. Through sustainable farming, protection of medicinal plants, and the careful stewardship of sacred spaces, the work honours the reciprocal relationship between people and the Earth.

Long-Term Vision & Aims

There is a long-term vision to develop this sacred land into a space that supports healing, cultural continuity, and sustainability. This includes:

The creation of a healing centre rooted in ancestral wisdom and ceremonial practice

The development of a heritage eco-lodge that welcomes local and international visitors seeking cultural education, ceremony, and individual or collective healing

The establishment of a sustainable farm that nourishes both the land and the community

This space will serve as a place of refuge, learning, and restoration, guided by ancestral principles and grounded in respect for the land.

Community & Collective Impact

The work is committed to supporting local rural livelihoods through:

Employment

Meaningful employment

Skills & Knowledge

Skills-sharing and knowledge exchange

Steardship

Responsible land stewardship

In doing so, it strengthens community resilience while creating a living model of harmony between people, culture, and the natural world.
